Extraction (2024)

Wax, debris, chamomile, interfacing, acrylic set, expansion metal, durational video on handycam

Layers of debris encased in paper-thin wax sheets are collaged and melted to each corner of the wall. The delicate scent of dried chamomile permeates the halls, coupled by the incessant sounds of metronomic excoriation. Each minor speck of debris picked off and discarded onto beds of chamomile. To the right of the wall, scrap expansion metal provides a boundary, blurring the visibility of the act of removal over a five hour video, shot on a Panasonic Handycam.
